Burlington Junior School

logo Year 6 Curriculum Overview

This term we shall be looking at the Victorians paying particular attention to the lives of Victorian children. This will be enhanced by our trip to Hornsea museum where we will all become Victorians for the day. Lets hope none of us get the cane in the very strict school room! We shall aslo be looking at the local area and seeing whether there have been many changes since the Victorian era.

In Science we are looking at solids, liquids and gases and the four processes of melting, freezing, evaporating and condensing. The children will take part in a number of practical experiments to aid their learning.

In Games we have four groups running so everyone will have a chance to play netball, rugby, football and hockey. If the weather is too bad we have a Freddie Fit competition in the hall.

In year 6 we give regular homework and hope you will encourage your child to complete this, if there is ever any problem, there is always one of the year group teachers around. We also ask that you listen to your child read as regularly as you can.

We hope that your child has an enjoyable end to their time at Burlington and that they are well prepared for the transition to secondary school at the end of the year.
