During Literacy children will study various topics including information texts, poetry and fiction. They will also focus upon creative literacy which links to the weather topic in geography. In addition, the children will have regular phonics lessons in which they will build upon their knowledge of sounds. This will help develop the children's reading and spelling skills.

Weather around the world is the Geography topic this term and during this they will also study tropical rainforests. By the end of the unit children will be able to compare the different types of weather and where it occurs in the world.

In Science we are looking at materials and their properties then magnets and springs. The children will take part in a number of practical investigations to aid their learning.

In Games we have three groups running so everyone will have to chance to play hockey, netball and football. The topics for PE are stretching, curling and rolling. The children will learn a range of techniques which will take place on the mats and on apparatus. Additionally, we will continue with regular swimming lessons up until the half term, with the aim that the children will develop their swimming skills.

In year 3 we give regular homework and hope you will encourage your child to complete this, if there is ever any problem, there is always one of the year group teachers around. We also ask that you listen to your child read as regularly as you can.
