14th October, 2008.

Dear Parent/Carer,

HARVEST FESTIVAL— 17th October, 2008.

On Friday, 17th October, we are holding our Harvest Celebration Assembly at 2.30 pm. There will be, as usual, a limited amount of room for parents to attend. We squeeze in as many as we can.

We are collecting again for the Kingfisher Trust who help the homeless in the local community.  We are hoping your child could bring in items such as instant tea, coffee, whitener, sugar, soup, any food that can be eaten out of the tin, ring pull cans are particularly helpful.

These harvest gifts should be brought into school on Friday morning at 8.55 am and left on the tables provided in the reception area.  Thank you for your support.

PARENTS' EVENING

A reminder that Parents' Evening is between 3.30 pm and 8.00 pm on Tuesday,

21st and Wednesday, 22nd October.  Your child's teacher will be sending home

appointment slips this week.

BONFIRE DAY SCHOOL LUNCH

On Wednesday, 5th November, cook is going to prepare a special bonfire lunch for pupils.  The same arrangements apply, order on the day and the cost is £1.70 for pupils who do not have free school meals.

SCHOOL PHOTOGRAPHS

On Wednesday,12th November, individual school photographs will be taken.  They will be ready for collection by parents before Christmas.

CHRISTMAS DINNER

The school Christmas Dinner takes place on Wednesday, 17th December and all pupils are welcome to have a meal on that day.  The cost is £1.70  if you do not have free school meal provision.

MORNING BREAK SNACKS

Some children are taking items from their packed lunches to eat at morning break. In line with our healthy school policy we have a rule that only fruit or our daily, fresh baked bread rolls (10p) and fresh fruit drinks (orange juice and apple juice 25p) may be consumed (slow energy release). We don't want a return to crisps, sweets, chocolate bars and sugary drinks which are not a healthy alternative.

Whilst on the subject of packed lunches it is advisable to include in the child's box a small freezer block or frozen carton drink to keep their sandwiches etc at a chilled temperature.

CAR PARKING—HIGH GREEN

We have had a second letter from the Lords Feoffees regarding parking on High Green and the problems residents are having with access to their properties. Please don't park in the private access road. Traffic wardens may be asking you not to park there.

We encourage parents to always park with regard to the safety of our children and with consideration towards local residents.  Thank you.

HALF TERM BREAK

We break for half term on Friday, 24th October at 3.30 pm and pupils return to school at 8.55 am on Monday, 3rd November, 2008.

Yours sincerely,

T.W.J. O'REILLY.
Headteacher.
